Introduction to a Raw food Plant Based Diet
What is a R.F.P.B.D. diet and on what data can it be based upon?
According to a 2019 survey, there are about 8.7 million recorded species of animals on our planet, of which 6.5 million are terrestrial, while the rest of the species live in seas and oceans.
All the animals on our planet feed on an exclusively raw food diet. Their diet is specially adapted depending on the species they belong to and is consistent with their anatomy and physiology. For example, a carnivorous lion will not prefer eating plant food, as it can instinctively recognize that this is not in line with its physiology, i.e., it is not in line with the diet that it is biologically created to follow.
This diet is probably one of the most critical reasons that observing a sick animal in nature is relatively rare. Animals that live in their natural environment maintain a normal life away from modern diseases that humans are experiencing today.
Scientific data:
The H.E.A.T.O.X. project, a 3-year European project of 2003 in Sweden, identified about 800 chemical compounds induced by the heat treatment of carbohydrate foods, of which 52 chemicals were finally considered suspect and classified as potentially carcinogenic. Among them are several chemical compounds found today in cooking, such as the well-known Maillard reactions (the bright pink color of bread and toast, potato, steak, pastries), as well as lipid oxidation products. Greater emphasis has been placed on the acrylamide, which results from the reaction of an amino acid (asparagine) and a carbohydrate sugar when it is heated to high temperatures. The concentration of acrylamide increases at temperatures above 100oC, and its presence is associated with several hormonal and neurotoxic issues.
Besides, food processing and cooking can destroy water-soluble vitamins in foods such as vitamin C and B vitamins.
The raw food plant-based diet relies heavily on the above arguments and suggests the consumption of raw, unprocessed foods, such as fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds, fermented products, and certain cereals, sprouts, and microgreens.
As long as a balance is maintained by consuming a wide range of plant products, this diet can be an ideal means of preventing and possibly restoring our physical health.
Let it be noted that this is not a diet, as it does not contribute to the caloric restriction of food. On the contrary, it is a way of life, which can help the body function more harmoniously and efficiently, improving its energy, health and wellness levels.
How can we get started?
The procedure followed during our 1st session is as follows:
- Obtain a detailed history (nutritional, medical, details about physical condition, and a history of receiving medications and supplements).
- Assessment of somatometric characteristics through examination of body weight (mass) and analysis of body composition (percentage of fat, water, muscle mass). If it is not possible to visit our office, we can rely on your measurements, both weight and body circumference (through the use of a simple measuring tape).
- Information on the course and evolution of our nutritional intervention, reports on investing in nutritionally appropriate equipment and setting future goals.
- Constructing a nutritional program according to the requirements.
- Monitoring and controlling the evolution of our nutritional intervention through measurements:
- Weight (mass) and body circumference and other somatometric characteristics.
- Blood pressure and heart rate. Measuring blood pressure helps us to intervene nutritionally-supplementally in cases where this is necessary.
- Body temperature. Measuring body temperature helps us to have a concise picture of thyroid function throughout the program.
- Blood sugar and ketone measurements.
- Review of hematological parameters (where required).
In case of an online cooperation:
- Sessions can be done by selecting an online platform such as skype, zoom, messenger, or by phone.
- The nutrition plan is sent via e-mail.
- During our cooperation, support material will be sent (depending on the individual) to mobilize the person and provide incentives to continue his efforts.
- Payment of the sessions is monthly and can be made by deposit in a bank account, or Paypal.
